Ghana's peak season for yam exports from Africa to the US is now in full swing.
Logistics airline partner Air France-KLM Martinair Cargo was able to load 106 tonnes this week in its Boeing 777 freighter from Accra to New York via its Paris CDG hub.
Yams are a type of dry and starchy root vegetable mainly cultivated in Sub-Saharian Africa (Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Benin).
Part of the production is exported to Europe and the US, with New York's JFK airport being the number one entry gateway from Ghana.
