WestJet Cargo has appointed Awesome Cargo as its US sales agent for capacity out of the US.
The Aerocharter GSA-owned firm will market cargo capacity on the airline’s passenger and freighter flights operating from the US to Canada and Mexico.
The two companies have been working together on the airline's services out of Mexico since November.
Exported commodities out of the US primarily include perishables, general cargo and high-value products.
WestJet Cargo operates daily passenger flights out of Los Angeles (LAX) to Calgary (YYC) and Vancouver (YVR), almost daily services to Edmonton (YEG), and Toronto (YYZ), and serves Winnipeg (YWG) two to four times per week.
Passenger flights offer a cargo capacity of up to two tonnes.
WestJet Cargo’s Boeing 737-800 freighter services offer a cargo capacity of up to 20 tonnes per flight and connect Los Angeles with Mexico’s Guadalajara (GDL) three times per week and between Los Angeles and Calgary also three times per week.
Luis Ramos, chief executive and president of Aerocharter group, said: “This latest milestone further cements our professional cooperation that began in November 2023 with the strategic Awesome Cargo/WestJet Cargo operations connecting our Mexico City Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU) hub with North America."
