WestJet Cargo has added its capacity to third-party booking portal cargo.one as it continues to ramp up its digital offering.

By connecting systems, cargo.one's freight forwarder users will have access to the Canada-based carrier's network covering 45 destinations in North America, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.

The airline has 180 aircraft including four Boeing 737-800 converted freighters.

Destinations in the Americas available through cargo.one include Calgary, Halifax, Toronto, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Miami, Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta and Cancun, and in Europe London, Paris, Dublin, Barcelona, Milan and Rome.

Through the partnership, forwarders can search, amend and track bookings, including import bookings, for general cargo and perishable shipments.

WestJet executive vice president, cargo, Kirsten de Bruijn, said: "This strategic partnership is a logical step in our digital transformation, accelerating our growth in digital bookings. Partnering with cargo.one aligns perfectly with our vision of delivering exceptional customer experiences.”

The airline has been investing in its digital capabilities over the last year and recently launched a new website as it looked to cater to the demand for more self-service options.

"The redesigned website, now live, brings a host of improvements aimed at making it easier for customers to access key services and information," the airline said in a press release. "With a focus on user-friendly navigation, the website ensures that popular tasks are streamlined, requiring fewer clicks."
