Jan de Rijk Logistics has transported the 66m year old skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Airline KLM asked the Netherlands-based road feeder services provider to move the dinosaur, affectionately known as 'Trix', from Amsterdam's Schiphol airport to the Naturalis Museum in the Dutch city of Leiden.
"We do not get his kind of question every day," said Tim Roos, manager aerospace & special projects at Jan de Rijk Logistics, with an element of understatement.
Employees from the Naturalis Museum discovered an almost intact T-Rex skeleton in the US in 2013. Through crowd funding, Naturalis succeeded in the bringing the remains to the Netherlands.
The skeleton is one of the three most complete T-Rex skeletons in the world. Moreover, Trix is the only skeleton that will be displayed outside the US.
KLM flew the skeleton from Chicago to Schiphol, from where the Jan de Rijk truck was accompanied by police escort to Leiden, to be welcomed by a huge crowd.
Roos added: "We are proud to be part of this literally historic event. In our daily work we provide advanced logistics solutions for clients from around the world. We are honored that we specifically have been asked by KLM to carry out this very special transport. ''
The exhibition runs from September 10 this year to June 2017 at the Naturalis Museum.
