Dubai Airports has confirmed that all operations (arrivals and departures) at Dubai International have been suspended until further notice following crash landing of Emirates airline flight EK521 this morning.
In a statement, Emirates said that all 282 passengers and 18 crew on board the Boeing 777 aircraft are “accounted for and safe”, adding: “We can confirm that there are no fatalities among our passengers and crew.”
Flight EK521 was travelling from Trivandrum International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram, India, to Dubai.
The airline added: “We are expecting an eight-hour network wide delay, more information will be available on the Emirates website and social media channels.
“The main priority remains with those involved and offering support to concerned family and friends.”
Images posted online show thick black smoke coming from the plane, with no landing gear visible.
Dubai Airports will issue an update on the status of operations at DXB at 1700hrs GST.
