American Airlines has selected Unilode to provide ULD management services with the new contract due to start in October.
The new contract will see Unilode equip American Airlines’ ULD fleet with Bluetooth and long range (Lora)-enabled tracking technology for location tracking and condition monitoring.
The airline will also have access to the ULD firm’s eULD app and customer portal to monitor ULD status, track assets, maximise ULD utilisation and access real-time data.
"This ongoing digital transformation will enhance the ability to manage ULD movements efficiently, reduce losses, and minimise disruptions across the operations,” Unilode said.
Unilode will also provide ULD maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services across its repair network.
The ULD firm also has plans to grow its US team to help support operations.
Planning and positioning of ULD assets will be managed from Unilode’s operations centre in Bangkok.
Unilode deploys nearly 200,000 ULDs worldwide.
