After the positive vote by Parliament for Heathrow’s expansion, airport management has visited 65 UK sites bidding to host a logistics hub for the construction work supply chain.

The Heathrow Logistics Hubs are integral to the airport’s plans to ensure that the whole UK benefits from the expansion, helping to spread job creation and economic growth. Off-site construction will also help to make the project more affordable and sustainable.

The hubs will work by pre-assembling components offsite before transporting them in consolidated loads to Heathrow just as they are needed. This will reduce emissions and cut the costs of the project.

As part of the nationwide tour, Heathrow’s representatives were looking for sites that will be able to work together to pre-assemble components before transporting them in consolidated loads to the Heathrow site.
