Freight forwarder Ligentia Group has stepped in to purchase the business and assets of Air & Cargo Services Ltd, which had been facing financial headwinds.
Ligentia said the purchase would provide a home to Air & Cargo Services' 79 employees and offer continuity of service to customers.
The Leeds-headquartered forwarder added that the purchase would add a further seven locations to its network of 70 offices and more than 450 staff.
This includes Ligentia's re-entry into the Scottish market through Air & Cargo Services' office in Glasgow. Other locations where Air & Cargo Services was present include Heathrow, Gatwick, Felixstowe, Tilbury, Bristol and Manchester.
Ligentia chief customer officer and managing director for Europe Dan Gill said: "This deal supports a focus on offering technology-led freight forwarding solutions to customers around the world.
"We will be rapidly integrating knowledge and capabilities to continue to deliver as a trusted partner to both our long-term and new customers."
Air & Cargo Services had been growing over recent years and in 2015 and 2016 acquired AFS Worldwide and Hay World Cargo. It also purchased shares in ACE Inc and LSIDAHO in the US.
In October, Ligentia appointed Jan Skovgaard as chief operating officer to be based in Hong Kong and help with the group's expansion in Asia.
