AIRCRAFT conversions company Aeronautical Engineers Inc (AEI) is to produce two additional B737-400SF passenger-to-freighter [p2f] conversions for Brazilian customer Sideral Air Cargo.
Both aircraft will be modified at Commercial Jet Services’ facility at Dothan Alabama starting in June.
This order brings Sideral Air Cargo’s freighter fleet to five, with one AEI B737-300SF and four AEI B737-400SFs.
The backbone of the AEI B737-400SF conversion product is the precision-built, all new main deck cargo door (MDCD) and surround skins which, along with the primary kit, is 100 per cent manufactured in the USA.
According to Robert Convey, AEI’s vice-president of sales and marketing, AEI’s attention to precision manufacturing and installation has resulted in an airworthiness directive-free product for AEI’s 737-300/400 STC, a claim its competitors cannot match.
The all MDCD is situated 40 inches further back from the L1 door, thereby allowing the first of 10 full-height containers to be positioned forward of the MDCD against the lightweight 9G barrier.
“Over the past several years, AEI has worked tirelessly to bring the B737-400SF to market and thanks to our loyal customers like Sideral Air Cargo we now provide 75 per cent+ of all B737-400 conversions worldwide,” says Convey.
