Turkish Cargo is preparing for the opening of Istanbul New Airport which takes place with a grand ceremony on October 29.
The carrier has confirmed that it will continue all of its cargo operations from Istanbul Atatürk Airport until December 31, 2018, at which point all bellyhold cargo will be flown from Istanbul New Airport.
Turkish Cargo's freighter flights will continue to be operated from Istanbul Atatürk Airport.
Turkish Cargo will have a 165,000 sq m area at the new mega hub, which will have an annual handling capacity of 2m tons at the end of the first phase construction.
With the completion of second phase construction, capacity will be 4m tons per year.
A spokesperson for Turkish Cargo said: "The global air cargo brand, which services to more than 300 destinations in 124 countries, is also designing differentiated services, diversified special cargo areas and more quality and lean processes for the special product groups.
"The new mega Hub will be the first Air cargo terminal which is to be integrated into the operational process of artificial intelligence with support of Pallet Container Handling System (PCHS) and an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) systems.
