Turkish Cargo has expanded its pharma offering with three new standards to meet varying demands from customers.
The three pharma products are named TK Pharma Standard, TK Pharma Extra and TK Pharma Advanced and include various levels of service.
TK Pharma Standard shipments are moved in compliance with industry standards and have a high priority for loading, dedicated temperature-controlled storage, trained dedicated operations team and 24/7 customer service.
TK Pharma Extra is aimed at pharmaceutical and medical products with a higher sensitivity to temperature and time that require passive packaging and extra protection during apron transportation.
While they are on the apron, consignments are carried by temperature-controlled dollies and monitored from the point of departure to the destination by the 24/7 Pharma Control Tower.
TK Pharma Extra is available only at "TK Pharma High-Quality Stations" that have been audited and approved by the carrier.
TK Pharma Advanced "provides the opportunity to consign with near-zero risk against temperature deviation" by using active temperature-controlled or hybrid/advanced passive containers.
The cargo is carried at a fixed temperature between -70°C and +30°C, depending on the requests of the customers.
There is also a dedicated team that manages the transportation process and provides the customers with a consultancy service in terms of container leasing.
Ali Türk, chief cargo officer of Turkish Airlines, said that the new product levels had been launched as the company "adapts to the dynamics of the ever-growing healthcare industry.
He added that Turkish Cargo has a pharma and medical product marketshare of 7%.
