Turkish Cargo is to increase its main deck capacity in Vietnam by adding the country’s largest city, Ho Chi Minh (SNG), to its freighter network after an initial presence in capital Hanoi since 2015.
Flights to Ho Chi Minh, which has a high export potential and a significant cargo traffic to the European market, will be carried out by Boeing 777 freighters.
Ho Chi Minh has a strong Europe-based export market consisting of electrical equipment, fuel, oil, accessories and textile products and chemical products for machinery.
With a population of nearly 10m people, Ho Chi Minh’s main imports include electronic items, machinery and equipment, fuel, oil, iron and steel products, and plastics.
Earlier this year, AirBridgeCargo (ABC) also added a freighter service to the city, which it described as a major manufacturing hotspot.
Sergey Lazarev, general director of ABC, said: “On the back of economic growth of more than 7% and increasing export volumes, Vietnam seems like the right place to offer direct freight services to other regions, especially Europe and North America – something we can offer to the market with a diversified number of destinations and high level of service quality, including for special cargoes."
