Digital freight booking and payment platform Freightos has expanded its air cargo payment solution, WebCargo Pay, to Canada in partnership with Qatar Airways Cargo.
Freight forwarders based in Canada can now instantly access rates and book Qatar Airways Cargo's capacity out of Toronto and Montreal, regardless of traditional barriers like existing accreditation and bank guarantees, explained Freightos.
The payment solution is an add-on to cargo booking platform WebCargo.
Benefits of WebCargo Pay include booking without pre-payment. Forwarders can book space and reserve it. Payment is required only 48 hours before flight departure time.
Additionally, no bank guarantee is required. This eliminates the need for traditional guarantees or collateral, offering more financial flexibility.
Local payment options are also available and payments are easy and fast via a local bank transfer, said Freightos.
The solution is also particularly helpful to small forwarders, which are granted immediate access to Qatar Airways Cargo’s capacity, Freightos said. This can help them stay competitive during unpredictable shipping periods, added Freightos.
“As the world’s leading air cargo carrier, Qatar Airways Cargo is committed to expanding its digital capabilities and making air cargo more accessible to every type of customer,” said Mark Drusch, chief officer cargo at Qatar Airways Cargo.
“With WebCargo Pay in Canada, more freight forwarders can seamlessly book cargo capacity on our flights to and from Toronto and Montreal, increasing access to our services instantly. This integration will bring new forwarders into our digital booking ecosystem and simplify general payment workflows.”
“In a fast-moving logistics industry, cash flow and speed matter,” commented Wayne Tyndall, senior vice president commercial, freight forwarders and airlines at Freightos.
“WebCargo Pay removes cumbersome bank guarantee requirements and simplifies payments, enabling freight forwarders to secure space faster while giving airlines like Qatar Airways Cargo greater access to demand.
"With this expansion, WebCargo Pay now operates in 15 countries, enhancing access to digital booking and payment solutions for a significant share of the global air cargo market. At its core, this is about giving forwarders the financial flexibility and digital tools they need to compete in an evolving market."
In January, WestJet Cargo joined Freightos’ WebCargo and 7LFreight third party booking platforms to boost access to its cargo capacity in North America, Europe and Asia.
