TAAG Angola Airlines has begun operating regular cargo flights from Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto International Airport in Luanda, Angola.
A weekly cargo service departs from Luanda every Monday and connects Angola to regional destinations in Lagos, Nigeria (LOS) and Brazzaville, Republic of Congo (BZV).
The airline is carrying out these flights using its leased 737-800BCF (Boeing Converted Freighter), which was delivered in December.
"In January 2024, TAAG moved approximately 1,000 tons of diverse cargo between domestic, regional, and international destinations," said the airline.
The B737-800BCF is capable of transporting up to 23.9 tonnes of cargo. The main deck offers 141.5 m3 of cargo space, while the lower deck provides 43.7 m3 of space for bulk cargo.
Additionally, the freighter has the capacity for 11 pallet positions that can accommodate 10 contoured 96in x 125in pallets.
TAAG currently operates to 18 destinations in Angola and 16 international destinations in South America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
As well as the 737-800BCF, TAAG also has two Boeing 737-700 passenger aircraft in its fleet.
Network Airline Management (NAM) currently also has an agreement with TAAG to provide a weekly 747F scheduled service from Liege, Belgium, to Luanda.
NAM provides a 747-400F aircraft with nose door capability which carries up to 120,000 kilos of cargo on its core flight schedule.
TAAG now aims to grow its position in the African air cargo market and internationally.
