ShockWatch RFID Impact Indicators

SpotSee, a manufacturer of supply chain solutions, has launched a new low-cost, consumable, single-use device that combines damage-monitoring with radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology.

The ShockWatch RFID impact indicator tracks damage throughout the supply chain, and can help customers to quickly identify where damage is occurring, thereby saving them time and costs.

It also creates an electronic record of information in the user’s resource planning software, warehouse management system or directly into the SpotSee Cloud.

Each ShockWatch RFID unit is fitted with a NXP UCODE G2iM+ passive RFID chip, which can be scanned with any ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID reader. When a ShockWatch RFID indicator passes by the RFID reader, the ShockWatch RFID indicators communicate that a damaging impact has occurred or if products can be moved into saleable inventory.

Angela Kerr, vice president of product portfolio at SpotSee, said: “ShockWatch RFID combines the benefits of traditional RFID inventory management with impact-damage monitoring, allowing users to leverage existing RFID infrastructure to identify and reduce the sources of damage in their supply chain.”
