A study into single pilot aircraft operations has not been included in a Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Bill signed by President Donald Trump and passed by Congress.

The exclusion of the study from the FAA’s five year policy extension was welcomed by the US-based Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations (CAPA).

CAPA president Capt. Lee Collins said: “The single pilot study was stricken from the FAA Reauthorization Bill. This issue was a non-starter for pilots and Senators knew that for it to pass, the study could not be included in the final bill.

“CAPA strives to ensure the highest safety standards for all pilots and will continue to oppose this issue, should it resurface."
