Three shipper organisations have formed a new trans-national body, the Global Shippers’ Alliance (GSA).
The European Shippers’ Council (ESC), the Asian Shippers’ Association (ASA) and the American Association of Exporters and Importers (AAEI) have signed a memorandum of understanding to increase cooperation in air and sea freight and trade facilitation.
The GSA also promises “to engage in constructive dialogue with national governments, supranational bodies, transport organisations and logistic service provider organisations”.
The new body will consider, among other matters, fair pricing of transport including airfreight surcharges, competition, security and customs regulations, standardisation of data exchange, terminal handling charges and service levels in international transport.
