Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings will operate a Boeing 747-400 freighter for fast-growing Chinese parcel airline SF Express on the transpacific.
The aircraft lessor said that it would fly the B747F - through an ACMI deal - between China and the US, although it did not provide details on an exact route.
The aircraft will enter into service in October 2018, Atlas said.
“We are delighted to welcome SF Express as a strategic customer and to continue expanding our position in the express industry and the Asia-Pacific market,” said William Flynn, president and chief executive, Atlas Air Worldwide.
“SF Express plays a very important role in the growing express and e-commerce industries, and we look forward to providing SF Express and its customers with unmatched service and a platform for future global expansion.”
The Chinese airline has been expanding rapidly over the last 12 months and in July took delivery of its latest B757 freighter.
Last year, it purchased its first B747 freighters through an online auction. It also has plans to develop its own air cargo hub in China.
