GLOBAL forwarder SEKO Logistics has acquired an equity stake in UK ecommerce agency, Metakinetic, to capitalise on the growing number of online retail sales, writes Thelma Etim, deputy editor.
Metakinetic will operate in tandem with another SEKO-owned company, Red Hot Penny, which specialises in end-to-end services for online retailers.
Both agencies boast extensive experience in creative design, ecommerce technology and digital marketing, which – together with SEKO’s global warehousing operations – focuses on providing a truly end-to-end solution, says a company statement.
Metakinetic targets high-end clients from a variety of sectors, including luxury goods, the arts and fashion brands. Its current portfolio includes Rolex, Bodas, Claudia Schiffer, River Island, Merc and Larsson & Jennings.
Darren Bull, co-founder of Metakinetic and managing director of Red Hot Penny, comments: “We are at the beginning of a new chapter for our business, which has historically been all about the technology. Combining our passion for tech with Red Hot Penny’s unrivalled creative expertise and SEKO’s logistics offering means that we are providing something quite unique in the industry.”
Jason Thomas, creative director at Red Hot Penny, adds: “We are already experiencing significant demand for our holistic approach to e-commerce; retailers want an agency that will grow with them as they extend beyond the UK market and capitalise on overseas opportunities. Our distinctive and agile offering allows us to support them throughout their journey.”
Earlier this year, SEKO invested in a new 152,000-sq ft facility at Milton Keynes to capitalise on the exponential growth in online sales generated by UK retailers. The company also has a logistics centre at London Heathrow and Northampton in the UK.
