Schiphol Airport’s Cargonaut information platform will receive a funding boost of €2m in order to modernise the system.

Half of the €2m investment will come in the form of a grant from Top Sector Logistics, a co-operation between entrepeneurs, research institutes and government, while the remainder will be provided by Dutch Customs, Logius, Air Cargo Netherlands, Schiphol Group and Cargonaut itself.

The funding will be invested over the next two years in renewing the community information platform and applications, and so give users access to “the most modern and reliable resources possible”.

“Large-scale information sharing is among the challenges that lie ahead,” the investors said.

Cargonaut chief executive Nanne Onland said: “The world around us is changing at high speed, and the strong and innovative position of Schiphol can no longer be taken for granted.

“Strong cooperation, well-managed processes and maximum support from state-of-the-art IT resources are the keys to increase the competitiveness of Schiphol, and therefore of all stakeholders, including the government.”
