Saudi Arabian Airlines has placed an order with Mammoth Freighters for the conversion of seven Boeing 777 aircraft into an all-cargo configuration.
In a LinkedIn post on May 15, Mammoth Freighters said that "...Saudia has awarded to Mammoth Freighters an order for seven Boeing 777 P2F conversions."
The airline currently operates a freighter fleet of four B777s and three B747-400s.
Meanwhile, linked to the deal, Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries (SAEI) will work with Mammoth Freighters to build a new multi-bay Modification Facility to be dedicated to widebody aircraft modifications, maintenance and passenger to freighter conversions.
SAEI said its "MRO Village" and headquarters at King Abdul-Aziz Airport will measure 1m sq m and incorporate 11 hangars, as well as 26 engine and component shops, a 43,000 sq m supply chain and warehouse, and what it said is the largest test-cell for engine testing in the region.
Mammoth Freighters and SAEI have been contacted for comment.
Mammoth Freighters announced its plans for Boeing 777-200LR and 777-300ER passenger-to-freighter conversion programmes in September 2021.
Cargojet became the launch customer for Mammoth's B777-200LR freighter conversion programme in November.
