Qatar Airways Cargo has resumed its freighter services to Bahrain, effective September 1.

In addition to the 21 weekly narrowbody passenger flights to Bahrain, Qatar Airways Cargo is now operating three weekly freighter services, adding more than 200 tonnes of weekly cargo capacity to/from Bahrain.

Liesbeth Oudkerk, senior vice president cargo sales and network planning, said: “We are glad to be back in Bahrain with dedicated freighters three times a week. Bahrain is an important market for us, and having a consistent freighter service will contribute to the economic and trade growth between Qatar and Bahrain.”

The imports into Bahrain predominantly consist of general cargo, perishables like fruits, vegetables and meat, while exports from Bahrain consist of general cargo and dangerous goods.

With the addition of Bahrain, Qatar Airways Cargo now serves 24 Middle Eastern destinations with freighter and passenger bellyhold flights, providing a combined weekly cargo capacity of over 4,500 tonnes to and from Middle East.

Qatar Airways Cargo has been focusing on expanding its capacity and network in recent months.

In May, the carrier launched a Kigali, Rwanda cargo hub in partnership with RwandAir. This is the carrier’s first cargo hub outside Qatar

The previous month it introduced a weekly direct freighter service from Bogota, Colombia to Dallas, Texas using a Boeing B777F.

Last year, Qatar Airways ordered 34 new generation 777-8F freighters with options for a further 16. The aircraft are due to start being delivered in 2027.
