Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has appointed Gilles Duffaut as the managing director of its new French subsidiary, Hellmann France.

Duffaut began his new role this month and succeeded Alex Delrue, who managed both the Spanish and French subsidiaries in a dual role for the past five years.

With the creation of this additional position of managing director France, Hellmann aims to support further growth and development of its business in the country.

Duffaut has over 30 years of international expertise in the transport and logistics industry and has held various senior positions at international logistics service providers, gaining a broad range of knowledge and in-depth industry insight.

He is now tasked with expanding Hellmann’s market position in France.

"The appointment of Gilles Duffaut is an important step in our growth strategy,” said Jens Tarnowski, regional chief executive West Europe, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.

"We look forward to working with him and his team to expand our market position in France across all product areas and to further consolidate our network in France.

"At the same time, we would like to thank Alex Delrue, who has done an excellent job in his dual role in both Spain and France and will now refocus on developing the Spanish market.”

Hellmann has made a number of key appointments recently.

Last month, the company appointed Martin Habisreitinger as chief operating officer (COO) airfreight, with effect from 1 February. Then this month, Hellmann appointed Céline Girard as head of airfreight operations & healthcare, Americas.

Hellmann opened its first air and seafreight branch near Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in 2019.

Today, the logistics company is established in the French market with five branches and a wide range of services from air and seafreight to customs clearance and Direct Load offers for both local and multinational customers. These customers are from a variety of industries including fashion, pharmaceutical and automotive.

In addition to opening further branches in France, Hellmann also plans to expand its Direct Load network throughout Europe.
