The first cohort of cargo managers has graduated from Emirates SkyCargo’s leadership training programme.
The airline said the course provided candidates with tools focussed on future operations and industry trends, such as the use of artificial intelligence (AI), embedding innovation, optimising current operations and implementing sustainability initiatives.
The programme was launched last year with 32 members of staff joining the 15-day training scheme.
“These skills will be implemented in the graduates’ immediate roles as well as contributing to personal and organisational growth,” Emirates said.
The airline partnered with AviationNOW to develop and deliver the training programme, which included a combination of theoretical and practical sessions hosted at Emirates Group headquarters in Dubai.
Each candidate achieved a diploma endorsed by AviationNOW.
The airline said that the logistics industry faced “a lack of skilled workforce” driven by a lack of awareness of career paths and progression, opportunities for learning and development, and training on skills required for modern logistics.
It hoped the training programme would help employees develop their careers within the airline, contribute to the long tenure of staff and help attract new talent to the industry.
Badr Abbas, divisional senior vice president, Emirates SkyCargo, said: “Our people are the crux of our success. As an employer of choice, we proudly attract and retain the best talent in the industry, and a large part of this is the access to development opportunities that hone skillsets and elevate personal development.
“Devised inhouse in coordination with Emirates Learning & Talent and HR teams, these programmes advance the skillset within our talent pool, ensuring Emirates SkyCargo is future-fit.”
