PEMCO World Air Services, the Florida, US-based maintenance and conversion company, enjoyed a successful 2015 fiscal year. It delivered passenger-to-freighter conversions to new as well as long-standing operators, the company confirms, while turnaround time on its B737 cargo door conversion was reduced by 14 days.
Lean production procedures were implemented throughout its facility and “a more engaged workforce that fully understands the mission” was also said to have contributed to success.
During the first part of 2016, PEMCO signed a new heavy maintenance contract with one carrier and a modification contract with a major US carrier.
According to the conversion house, PEMCO’s B737 cargo door modification offers benefits in being strategically located away from the engine, thus precluding engine damage during cargo handling, and from the location of its centre of gravity, which results in fuel savings during flight operations.
