New US$2.9bn home planned for Etihad ??PLANS are afoot to build a US$2.9bn state-of-the-art airport terminal to house national carrier Etihad Airways.

A consortium of three companies, including Dubai-based Arabtec, won the contract to erect the Midfield Terminal Complex, due to open in 2017.

Work on the project will get under way later this year, according to Abu Dhabi Airports Company.

Etihad, which began operating in 2003, has bought interests in four airlines since December.
