Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) is using the Descartes Air Cargo Advance Screening (ACAS) solution to meet the mandatory advanced security filing requirements for air cargo imports into the US.
Keita Sataka, senior vice president at NCA, said: "Descartes has a strong history of providing NCA and the air cargo industry with customs and security filing technology, and their ACAS solution provides a proven, reliable, cost effective way to meet data collection and submission requirements."
ACAS is a joint US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) programme that requires data be submitted prior to loading at a foreign airport.
ACAS became mandatory form June 12, 2018, for freight forwarders and air cargo carriers following the conclusion of the voluntary compliance pilot program.
A Descartes spokesperson said that its ACAS solution "consolidates mandatory ACAS data from multiple sources, checks that it conforms to CBP's unique ACAS message formats, and submits those documents to CBP once they have passed all validations".
The solution uses the Descartes Global Logistics Network to manage the flow of master and house bill information to file directly to CBP without manual intervention.
