MRO Avia Prime Group has entered the widebody conversion market by signing a cooperation agreement with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
The conversion of Boeing B767-200/300 passenger aircraft to freighters will take place at the premises of the Belgrade-based Avia Prime subsidiary, JAT Tehnika.
Conversion work will take place on two production lines built on over 9,000 sq m.
So far, €5m has been invested in capacity expansion, staff training and the purchase of new machinery.
Piotr Kaczor, chief executive of Warsaw-headquartered Avia Prime Group, said: “We are proud that such an influential aviation organisation, like Israel Aerospace Industries, saw and trusted in our potential.
“We have been preparing for a long time and passed rigorous checks by the Federal Aviation Administration and our Israeli partner.
“This milestone marks the beginning of a new era in Avia Prime, where we strive to offer our partners a unique and comprehensive portfolio, all under one Avia Prime brand.”
He added: “This conversion programme is the first one in this part of Europe.”
Avia Prime consists of JAT Tehnika in Serbia, Linetech in Poland, and Adria Tehnika in Slovenia.
