Cargo traffic at Ontario International Airport in the US continued its positive development in September, with commercial freight and mail volumes rising 12.4% year on year to 61,463 tons.
Over the course of the first nine months of 2018, cargo tonnage grew to 544,700 tons from almost 463,000 tons a year ago – a year-on-year increase of 17.7%, the Californian gateway said.
The cargo results mirror a similar trend in the airport’s passenger traffic.
Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA) commissioner Jim Bowman said: “The continued strong performance in both passenger and cargo volumes validates the tremendous commitment and efforts of our staff and leadership team in the two years since the airport’s return to local control.”
