Miami International Airport (MIA) has announced it will be closed for the rest of the day (Monday) as a result of Hurricane Irma.
The category four hurricane hit Florida on Sunday and while it has now been downgraded to a tropical storm, strong winds continue to batter the state's western coast.
As a result, MIA said there were no scheduled passenger flights today. An assessment will be carried out later to determine whether flights can resume tomorrow.
FedEx Trade Networks said its Miami office would remain closed today. The forwarder added that it would monitor the situation to determine whether additional office closures are necessary.
Airlines' cargo businesses remain closed in the Miami region and some Atlanta operations are also being restricted. Meanwhile, Caribbean cargo businesses at certain locations are beginning to come back online.
United Airlines Cargo said that restrictions remain in place in MIA, Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Palm Beach International (PBI), South West Florida International (RSW), Jacksonville International (JAX), Orlando Airport (MCO), Tampa International (TPA), Princess Juliana (SXM), Charleston International (CHS) and Savannah (SAV).
It has also added restrictions at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), but lifted restrictions at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan (SJU) and Rafael Hernández Airport in Aguadilla (BQN).

American Airlines Cargo said that restrictions had been lifted to Antigua (ANU) and Saint Kitts (SKB), but remained in place for: MIA, Nassau (NAS), Providenciales (PLS), Saint Thomas (STT), SXM, JAX, MCO, RSW, TPA, FLL and PBI.
