After the boom in demand for freighters experienced in 2015 as US west coast seaport workers launched industrial action, 2016 was always going to suffer in comparison, writes Damian Brett.

Nonetheless, there has been plenty for the freighter industry based in North America to get excited about, with a new face entering the industry and a bonanza for conversion specialists based on the continent.

IATA figures suggest a fairly flat air cargo market for carriers based in North America so far in 2016.
