The Volga-Dnepr Group (VDG) and Liege Airport have extended their strategic co-operation with a deal to create a maintenance facility at the cargo hub.
The agreement serves as an extension of an MoU signed last summer between the airport, VDG and CargoLogicAir, which aimed to create a regional hub at the airport.
Liege Airport will now draft a proposal on the location the maintenance hangar, which will be primarily used as technical support station to guarantee line maintenance.
The MoU signed last year will see the airline group and its partners ramp up services at the airport to 30 freighter flights per week by the end of 2020. Services will focus on e-commerce and utilise B737, B747 and B777 capacity.
The airline group will also lease warehouse premises for the total area of 25,000 sq m at the airport, with the first phase totaling 12,500sq m due to be operational this year.
The Wallonian Government will also now participate in the co-operation, providing advisory services and talent acquisition.
