GLOBAL Aviation has resumed cargo flights between Europe and Libya using a wet-leased AHS Air International 747-200F. Fortnightly flights will operate from Ostend, Belgium to Tripoli Mitiga, Libya, as Tripoli International is still largely unserviceable owing to months of heavy warfare there.

Global had originally intended to use a 747-300F on the route, but this was rejected by the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority (LyCAA). The LyCAA reportedly grants traffic rights for the route on an ad-hoc basis with night operations expressly forbidden.

Global Aviation also operates a weekly flight from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates to Tripoli.
