LATAM Cargo has launched a new freighter service between Brussels and Uruguay’s Montevideo (MVD) Airport to cater for pharma demand.
The weekly flight will utilise a Boeing 767-300F and is “designed to attend the growing needs of the pharmaceutical industry”.
Bruno Guella, managing director at MVD, said: “MVD Free Airport counts today with a service level that is safe, reliable and pharma certified.
“We celebrate LATAM jumping on board in this project, consolidating the airport’s positioning in regional distribution, and providing a necessary augmented capacity for cargo arriving to Uruguay for a subsequent customised, multimodal last-mile to the different markets in the region.”
The first flight took off from Brussels on September 6.
The Europe-South America pharma trade is clearly a focus for the South American carrier at the moment. Last week it launched a dedicated offline pharma hub in Copenhagen, the Danish capital.
