Kuehne + Nagel (K+N) has opened a new airfreight hub in Singapore to consolidate its activities for the sector on the island.
The Switzerland-headquartered forwarder’s new 5,200 sq m airfreight centre is located within the Changi Airport logistics park and consolidates warehousing, administrative and aviation logistics activities previously located at three different places.
The move will create operational synergies and improve cargo turnaround speed for time-critical shipments, the forwarder said.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Jens Drewes, President South Asia Pacific of K+N, said: “Singapore is geographically pivotal to regional trade and a very important location for K+N.
“The new airfreight logistics hub is part of our development blueprint to deliver logistics excellence with an end-to-end solution offering.
“This investment complements other K+N infrastructure in Singapore to create value to our customers, especially in the aerospace, technology and pharma & healthcare industries.”
Added Martin Habisreitinger, director of airfreight: “The demand of the aviation & aerospace industry is rapidly changing with rising service levels expectations, more sophisticated and innovative solutions, as well as growing environmental issues.
“With this investment, K+N aims to play a key role in supporting the supply chain transformation of this industry.”
