Kids get aircraft named after them

It can't be easy to keep coming up with names for new aircraft, but US express giant FedEx has come up with a nice way to get around the problem - naming the aircraft after the children of employees.

The latest children to have an aircraft named after them as part of the FedEx Aircraft naming Programme were four-year-old Tyler and nine-year-old Evie who had two B757 freighters named in their honour.

The newly named aircraft, Tyler N140FE and Evie N789FD, make up part of the company’s fleet of over 650 aircraft, delivering to more than 220 countries and territories worldwide.

Tyler and Evie join over 700 FedEx employees’ children who have received this honour, saluting the vital role employees play the FedEx world.

The tradition started when a Falcon aircraft was named Wendy, after the daughter of FedEx chairman and chief executive, Fred Smith.
