One of the UK’s oldest shipping agents and freight forwarders, John Good Shipping, has opened an airfreight division as it looks to expand in the sector.
The company said that John Good Air would allow it to offer a complete logistics package; sea, road and air.
The new airfreight division will be led by Ed Clarke and based at Manchester Airport.
John Good Shipping managing director Seamus Jennings said: “We have been looking to establish ourselves in the airfreight industry for a while now.
"Air freight is not new to us, however we felt that in order to meet our customers’ requirements and provide competitive rates, a separate division needed to be established.
“We are extremely fortunate that we have been able to team up with Ed Clarke, a highly experienced and respected figure in the air freight industry, and after a long time spent considering the various options, we can now look forward to stamping our mark on the air freight industry.”
The company, established in 1833, already provides shipping services that include freight forwarding, liner and port agency, haulage, warehousing and customs clearance at its 16 locations in the UK and offices in Turkey and China.
