Jan de Rijk Logistics has achieved certification in IATA’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Handling programme (CEIV Pharma).
“With this certification we are able to differentiate ourselves by offering a competitive advantage to our customers”, says Sebastiaan Scholte, chief executive of Netherlands-based Jan de Rijk Logistics, which operates a fleet of 600 vehicles across Europe,
Scholte, also chairman of the Cool Chain Association (CCA), adds: “We are already Good Distribution Practices (GDP) certified and we believe that with this certification we will only strengthen more our pharma capabilities.
“In the CCA we have advocated the need for common standards for some time now. The shippers want more transparency and common standards. We believe that the CEIV program is a step in the right direction to achieve this. We therefore also hope that more companies will follow soon.”
CEIV Pharma certification is a series of processes including on-site assessment, implementation planning, training, and validation.
The programme focuses on equipment requirements, adequate storage facilities, efficient and effective pharmaceutical handling procedures and raising internal pharmaceutical handling know-how.
Brussels Airport has the first CEIV pharma certified community in this programme, and administrators hope to pave the way for other airports to follow the same standardised, sanitary and secure procedures.
