Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) saw a 1% decline to 362,000 tonnes in May.
While trans-shipments grew by 6% in May, overall cargo volume fell, primarily due to a 4% year-on-year drop in imports and 2% for exports.
Traffic to and from key trading regions in North America saw the most significant drop during the month.
On a rolling 12-month basis, cargo throughput declined by 1.3% to 4.34m tonnes.
Passenger traffic at HKIA enjoyed “mild” growth in May, said the airport authority, up 1.4% to 5.8m.
