IAG Cargo has selected ABDA Aviation to be its GSSA in Malaysia. ABAD will also provide IAG Cargo with customer service and operational support across its business activities in the country.
The deal comes as IAG Cargo restarts its operations in Kuala Lumpur, enhancing the Malaysia’s position as an "increasingly important" regional air cargo hub.
ABDA chief executive, Dato' J.J Ong, explained: "ABDA Aviation will now work to support IAG Cargo, and its customers, to meet the demands of improving global trade and the growing frequency of imports and exports from Malaysia, working hard to aid investment and economic growth in the country.
"This will also mean that businesses flying goods into, out of and through Malaysia will be able to benefit from IAG Cargo’s new service offerings, which it quickly introduced in response to the global pandemic. This includes the opportunity to charter aircraft and for cargo only flights, where the whole aircraft, including the passenger cabin, is used to carry cargo."
IAG Cargo (utilising a Boeing 789 British Airways passenger aircraft) will operate its first flight from Kuala Lumpur to Heathrow on August 6.
