IAG Cargo's facility at Cape Town International Airport has been approved to transport time and temperature-sensitive healthcare products.
The Cape Town facility in South Africa is IAG Cargo's fifth Constant Climate station in Africa.
Following the opening of the Constant Climate station at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) in September, Cape Town marks the second station launched in 2023 to be approved to transport essential healthcare products.
South Africa is a critical market for pharmaceutical products to meet the healthcare needs of its population, but relies on imports, said IAG Cargo.
The new IAG Cargo Cape Town station will handle a wide array of pharmaceuticals, from vaccines to medicinal components supporting local production.

IAG Cargo’s Constant Climate product is a cold chain solution that caters specifically to the transportation of pharmaceuticals, such as vaccines, biotech products, diagnostics samples, or any other temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical material.
During the first half of 2023, there was a 45% increase in the volume of pharmaceuticals transported across the Constant Climate network compared to the previous year.
IAG Cargo now has over 100 approved Constant Climate stations across six continents.
