China-headquartered HongYuan Group has signed an agreement with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to carry out 11 Boeing B777-300ER passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversions.
The agreement also includes options for up to nine more conversions.
Air Cargo News has requested comment from HongYuan Group on whether it will operate the aircraft or whether they will be operated by another company.
The Group does not mention aircraft operations among its services on its website, however, the Group does have a stake in Brussels Airport-hubbed Air Belgium, which launched Boeing 747-8 freighter operations this year, supported by HongYuan Group.
In May, a Boeing 747-8F cargo plane began operating from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport to Brussels International Airport three times a week, with the goal of moving to six times a week.
In September, the Group said an Airbus A330-200F cargo plane with its livery was delivered to Brussels Airport, where it was received by the Group, Air Belgium and Aviapartner. The aircraft is for use on the use on the Hongyuan China-Europe international cargo route.
Last year, Hongyuan Group upscaled its presence at Brussels Airport by opening a new 8,000 sq m facility, as well as selecting the hub as its European headquarters.
HongYuan aims to grow its long haul widebody cargo aircraft fleet capacity in the coming years to meet air cargo demand in the future.
Hongyuan Group was founded in Beijing Capital International Airport in 2001 and now has nearly 50 subsidiaries.
The Group is active in aviation and port services, cross-border e-commerce logistics services and cross-border trade enforcement services.
It also operates a truck-airline service, supply chain finance service and airport-related real estate development.
