Hong Kong Air Cargo will add a new freighter service between Hong Kong and Oslo later this year as it looks to benefit from demand for seafood products in Asia.
The new weekly service will launch on September 4 utilising one of the airline's Airbus A330-200 freighters.
Oslo Airport operator Avinor said the new service would give Norwegian exporters access to new markets and provide a more efficient and faster route to Asia, which helps improve the quality of products on arrival.
"This will contribute to increased trade and the strengthening of economic ties between Norway and Asia," the airport said, adding: "This provides increased stability and reduces vulnerability to market changes. With more transport options, Norwegian companies are better equipped to meet global challenges."
Avinor cargo director Eva Beate Lande added: "We are very pleased to welcome Hong Kong Air Cargo to Oslo Airport. This route provides Norwegian exporters, especially in the fisheries sector, with a fast and reliable transport route to Asia, enhancing our competitiveness in the global market."
Hong Kong Air Cargo has been expanding its network over recent months as it looks to capitalise on the e-commerce boom.
In March, the carrier launched a service to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Shortly before, in February, the company began operating new routes to Liege in Belgium and London Stansted.
Only in October last year did it start operations in Europe for the first time with a service to Milan Malpensa.
A stop in Oslo on one of its return flights from Europe will help the airline fill its freighter on the backhaul leg of its network.
