Heathrow Airport cargo volumes in March were 137,000 tonnes, a 2.9 per cent rise over the same month in 2014.

First quarter 2015 volumes at the London hub were up 4.5 per cent at 371,000 tonnes.

The March growth in freight traffic at the UK airport were helped by substantial increases in cargo volumes of 53.0 per cent to Mexico, 28.8 per cent to Turkey, 9.1 per cent to Brazil and 6.9 per cent to India.

Heathrow saw its busiest ever March with a record 5.95m passengers, an increase of 3.4 per cent on March 2014 as the airport benefitted from an earlier Easter travel rush.
