Havas and Qatar Cargo

Turkish ground handler Havaş, a subsidiary of TAV Airports and a member of Groupe ADP, has renewed its contract with Qatar Airways at several airports in Turkey.

The contract — which is in effect until 2025 — will see Havaş providing cargo and warehousing services for the carrier at Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Antalya airports, as well as cargo services at Adana Airport.

Havaş 'general manager S. Mete Erna, commented: "We are very glad to extend our service agreement with Qatar Airways Cargo to create synergy on cargo and warehouse services.

"For the past two years, we have been using reefer trucks designed for the equipment fleet of our warehouses to transport special cargo such as medicine, food, etc. in Turkey. Havaş was the first company in ground handling services in Turkey to use reefer trucks.

"Furthermore, we doubled the size of our warehouse at Istanbul Airport with an approximate investment of €11m, while also investing in several brand-new technologies and hardware at our warehouse facilities at Ankara, Izmir and Antalya airports — covering a total area of 20,457 sq m; and setting an example in the sector.

"We will continue to increase the efficiency of our operations and adopt innovations to contribute to the success of all our business partners."

Earlier this week, Havaş received EU Good Distribution Practices (GDP) certification for its operations at Istanbul Airport.
