Freighters World has announced the finalists for the inaugural Freighters World Awards to be held in Chicago next month.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on September 26 as part of the two-day Freighters World Conference.

In total, five award categories have been created to recognise the achievements of the all-cargo sector.

Finalists for the Best Freighter Operator award are AirBridgeCargo Airlines, Antonov Airlines, Cargolux and Emirates SkyCargo.

This award will recognise those businesses that operate their own freighter fleet, with judges looking for companies that can demonstrate operational efficiency, customer satisfaction and the introduction of new services or products.

The Best Freighter Hub category attracted a number of worthy entrants with dnata Dubai World Central (DWC), Emirates SkyCentral DWC, Frankfurt Airport, Liege Airport, Miami International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport qualifying as finalists.

To win the Best Freighter Hub award, entrants are asked to demonstrate how they have attracted freighter operators and improved the air cargo supply chain in and around the airport.

The Best Charter Logistics Project is open to any company involved in the air cargo supply chain that has carried out projects to budget and on-time, while demonstrating how it overcame any challenges associated with the lift. Finalists are: Etihad Cargo & Intradco Global and Volga-Dnepr Airlines.

Finally, the Innovator of the Year is for any company that operates within the freighter sphere that provides industry leading products and services that are helping to transform the air cargo sector. Finalists are: Brussels Airport Company - BRUcloud data sharing platform, Brussels Airport Company - Airside Pharma Transporter, dnata, MIA Cargo, and PEMCO.

The Newsmaker of the Year Award, sponsored by Chicago Rockford International Airport, will be announced on the night.

As well as the awards, the Freighters World event encompasses a two-day conference at the InterContinental Chicago on the Magnificent Mile, opening with a welcome reception on September 25 and finishing on September 27.

Delegates from all over the air cargo world will meet there to discuss the latest critical trends influencing and re-shaping the freighter debate.

The conference is backed by Atlas Air Worldwide, Boeing, United Cargo, Liege Airport, Qatar Airways and Quick Caller.
