Dubai International recorded another decline in air cargo tonnage in April as the effect of switching dedicated freighter flights to Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central (DWC) continued to take its toll.
During the month, freight volumes totalled 204,075 tonnes, a contraction of 3.6% compared with the 211,588 tonnes recorded in April 2014.
Year to date cargo totalled 798,771 tonnes, a contraction of 4.7% compared to 837,837 tonnes during the first four months in 2014.
All freighter traffic was transferred to Al Maktoum in May last year.
Although the facility has yet to reveal April figures, during the first quarter Al Maktoum recorded a volume increase of 177.3% to 213,006 tonnes.
