Maersk Air Cargo UK has taken delivery of a second Boeing 767-200 freighter and confirmed it has received its UK air operator certificate (AOC) as it continues to develop operations.
Data from Planespotters shows Maersk Air Cargo UK took delivery of its second 767-200 freighter last month, after receiving its initial 767-200F in January. The AOC was first reported by Cargo Facts.
Registered as G-MACY, the latest 767F is a converted BDSF (BEDEK Special freighter). The 36-year-old aircraft is currently parked at Shannon Airport (SNN) where it is undergoing maintenance.
According to Flightradar24, the aircraft has not carried out any flights in the last seven days.
Maersk Air Cargo's first 767-200F is also a converted BDSF. The 767 is 31 years old and registered as G-MACZ.
Flightradar24 data confirms that G-MACZ carried out flights between Shannon Airport (SNN) in Ireland and Belfast International Airport (BFS) in Northern Ireland on 11 March.
Following the delivery of the G-MACZ 767F, Air Cargo News (ACN) reported that data from Flightradar24 showed that the aircraft had already carried out a return flight from East Midlands Airport (EMA) to SNN in January.
The Danish shipping and logistics company has not confirmed whether this was a test flight or the start of commercial operations but did today tell ACN that SNN is used by Maersk for aircraft maintenance work and confirmed that it has received an AOC from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, indicating the flight was part of pre-commercial activities.
A Maersk spokesperson said the company can "confirm that we have received our UK AOC, and that it is to service our existing customer base", but added it was unable to provide further details on flight routes, frequencies and verticals served.
Maersk Air Cargo applied for a UK operating license in April last year.
Maersk told ACN at the time that the UK AOC application had been made to "support our ongoing business activities in Europe and the UK".
The company confirmed that operations would be served with 767F aircraft but did not provide any further details about its plans.
Maersk launched Maersk Air Cargo as a business in April 2022 and operations were launched at the end of October 2022.
According to Planespotters, Maersk Air Cargo’s own-controlled fleet currently comprises two 777Fs and 18 Boeing 767Fs.
Last year, Maersk took delivery of two new Boeing 777 freighters. These were deployed on the airline’s Billund to Hangzhou route.
