Lufthansa Cargo has announced it will soon restart freighter flights to Tel Aviv as part of a move by the wider Lufthansa Group.
The cargo airline said it would restart Boeing 777 freighter flights from Frankfurt to the Israeli city on Wednesday 22 January and Wednesday 29 January using the flight number LH 8352 (return flight: LH 8353). Both flights are bookable now, the carrier said.
Meanwhile, from 1 February, Lufthansa Cargo plans to operate four weekly flights with an Airbus 321 freighter in addition to the Wednesday 777 flight.
The passenger airlines of the Lufthansa Group will also resume flights to Tel Aviv from 1 February.
Over the last few months, airlines across the globe suspended flights to a host of Middle Eastern locations due to the outbreak of fighting in the region.
However, recent weeks have seen tensions ease and there is hope that a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas will be approved in the coming days.
While Lufthansa has confirmed the restart of flights to Tel Aviv, the airline added that flights of Lufthansa Group Airlines to Tehran (IKA) will be suspended until 14 February and to Beirut (BEY) until 28 February.
Cargo capacity on services to Tel Aviv has been increasing over the past 12 months according to data from Rotate.
The company’s figures show that over the first 16 days of 2025, cargo capacity is up 22% compared with last year. However, capacity to the airport still lags 17.8% behind pre-conflict January 2023.
Other freighter operators have been continuing to operate out of the airport. Over the past month, Challenge Group has offered the largest amount of cargo capacity followed by El AL, Silk Way, DHL and National Airlines.
Aircraft used on flights include 767Fs, 747Fs and A300Fs.
