New US cargo airline 7Air has received certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The Miami, Florida-based fledgling airline stated it had been granted the FAA certification in a LinkedIn post on 27 February.

7Air said: ”The wait is finally over! After countless months of hard work and dedication, 7Air has officially received FAA certification."

The airline added: ”Operations are set to take off as soon as next week. Stay tuned as this is only the beginning - 7Air is ready for takeoff.”

Last month, 7Air carried out its inaugural test flight as it continued to prepare for the launch of operations.

According to Planespotters, 7 Air has two Boeing 737-800 freighters, both passenger to freighter (P2F) conversions. The first 737-800P2F, registered N782AC, was delivered in April last year and the second was delivered in September last year.

Air Cargo News reported in September 2023 that 7Air initially planned to launch regional cargo services in the first quarter of 2024 with ambitions to operate a fleet of four 737Fs.

The airline’s services will include ACMI, CMI, full charters, scheduled charters and ad-hoc charters.

As well as undergoing certification, the airline said on its website that it is also developing specialised handling facilities and logistics systems to accommodate various types of cargo.

It is also working to establish partnerships with cargo operators, ground handling agents, and freight forwarders to build its network.

7Air's management team includes chief executive Amasvido Rodriguez and vice president of commercial operations and partner Carlos Cock.
